Your Go-To Coach - Shifting Mindsets Together - Helping People Realize Their Value

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Coaching, Executive Coaching, Facilitation, Group Coaching, Leadership Coaching, Life Coaching, Team Coaching

Darlene Fountaine is an executive life coach with more than 20 years of experience working with individuals and organizations to provide transformative solutions. Her coaching journey has been informed by her work in consulting, nonprofits, and through being an independent school administrator and board member. As a recognized advocate and change agent in the Diversity and Inclusion arena, she has worked with thousands of people to revolutionize agendas.

Lovingly known as the “go-to person” by her friends and colleagues, Darlene is committed to helping people shift their mindsets. She believes that success as a coach hinges on listening to clients, synthesizing their stories, and distilling patterns of behavior. Success also depends on adapting this outline to each client’s individual needs. In practice, this can mean identifying blind spots and self-imposed limiting beliefs that interfere with desired progress. Often success stems from helping clients implement a holistic approach to taking care of themselves that aligns with their personal values and beliefs. Once they have progressed personally, they can be more self-confident and productive at work and in other relationships.

In addition to coaching, Darlene has a robust volunteer agenda. She sits on four nonprofit boards, mentors undergraduate business students, and teaches entrepreneurship skills to teens. She is fortunate to engage and advance leaders through multiple avenues.

Originally from the Detroit area, Darlene earned a BA in psychology from the University of Michigan and an MBA from the University of Southern California. Darlene is an ICF Associate Certified Coach. She is also certified in Teams and Relationships, Diversity and Inclusion, Board Leadership, Women’s Entrepreneurship, and Business Sustainability. She lives in Los Angeles with her family.

"Darlene is thoughtful, humorous, and insightful.  She helped me identify areas where I could make adjustments in my thought processes, my planning, and my action.  Her guidance helped me to take actions to not merely survive the quarantine, but to calmly handle my responsibilities and thrive during the quarantine."
Tech Executive

"
Darlene helped me navigate important life decisions about my career and relationships while staying true to who I am. After years of feeling uncomfortable in therapists' offices -- which I realize now was never the right place for me - working with Darlene as a coach has set me on a path to truly Thrive. I cannot recommend her strongly enough."
Educational Technology Expert

“Darlene is an absolute expert when it comes to coaching clients.  She knows how to ask probing questions, but she also knows how to listen intentionally.  Additionally, she always remains neutral whenever she poses an idea or suggestion that initially may stretch one’s limited scope of thinking about a particular situation, and I can say with absolute certainty that my life has only become more enriched each time this occurs during one of my sessions with her.  As a school professional, now more than ever, having a coach allows me to be able to gain multiple strategies on how best to navigate some extremely difficult times facing all teachers and school leaders today.  Darlene genuinely is interested in wanting to help people work through any stumbling block, and she has the life experience, intuition, and practical know-how that supports and enhances the hours of professional training she received throughout her working life.

Simply stated, Darlene is my one and only “go-to person,” and I take great pride in being able to say that I have gone to seek her counsel with every major professional life decision that I have had to make over the past five years.  Darlene is kind, compassionate, extremely approachable, and knows how to uplift others while validating their feelings and experiences.  Most importantly, she provides measurable action items during a coaching session that leaves you feeling empowered, seen, valued, and heard.

"I could not provide any higher praise to this most outstanding educator and coach, and I know that I always have a trusted advisor in my corner who is rooting for me and my personal and professional growth throughout every step of my journey.”
Independent School Administrator

"
Darlene’s guidance and support during the undoubtedly stressful and challenging Independent School Admission process were invaluable.  We began the application process with trepidation and anxiety; however, after several sessions with Darlene, we felt educated and empowered as we navigated each phase of the process. She shared countless tips on crafting our essays and approaching interview preparation as well as guidance on which school may be an optimal fit for our family.  In the end, our son was admitted to all of the options to which he applied, and we certainly have Darlene to thank for our success in this regard."
